“Imaginosophy” - the study of the Creative Imagination
“Imaginosophy” is the study of the creative imagination. The word is derived from a play on words: “Imagine-osophy.” Our imagination is naturally resourceful and creative. “Osophy” is the field of study, a belief or doctrine. We combined 78 Tarot and 33 Imaginosophy cards to “imagine” the journey of the Awakening Human. Within this play we “Imagine-Sophia” and it is this deity who acts as the primary guide for the work and practice of Imaginosophy. Plato believed that there were two worlds: one was non-physical and the other was of manifest forms. He was one of the first philosophers to refer to archetypes, which he called “Forms.”
Carl Jung took this work further, suggesting that archetypes are a fundamental way we have of working with the psyche. “Archetypes,” Jung wrote in The Structure and Dymanics of the Psyche, “are the living system of reactions and aptitudes that determine the individual’s life in invisible ways.”
The MAJOR ARCANA describes an individual’s journey from the invisible, into color, light and sound and into physical form, and the realm of duality. through initiations and tests, to fulfillment and back to the sacred formless mystery. These can also be called Soul Cards, as we are becoming aware of the Greater Powers inherent in our own True Nature. In this deck, we follow the Hero or Heroine’s Quest to the wholeness of the Grail.
